SEACON BANGKAE
A new shopping centre with CIRCUTOR energy management system

Seacon Bangkae is a 6 floor shopping and leisure centre opened to the public in September 2012. In a shopping centre of those dimensions with such a high number of tenants, it is vital to have measuring units and energy management software that provides the partial consumptions of each of the establishments easily and quickly.

The information is sent via an Ethernet communications network and Modbus/ RTU to a central computer where the PowerStudio Scada Deluxe management software is located, which centralises all the shopping centre's energy data.

aplicacion

This centralised energy management not only includes all the various leased premises but also the energy consumption of the whole 130,000 m² that make up the common areas and car parks.

EDITORIAL
The Internet and electrical energy
editorial

There are certain similarities between the Internet and the possible nature of the future supply of electrical energy.

Just 20 years ago we received information centrally from very few sources: television, radio, newspapers, etc. However, with the arrival of the Internet, information has become popular and anyone can give their opinion online, it is no longer the monopoly of just a few.

Something similar is happening with electricity and will undoubtedly continue to become more widespread. It is no longer just a few power stations that generate the electricity we consume, as thousands of small producers have emerged that generate small amounts of electricity for own consumption and which discharge any surpluses into the grid, while receiving energy from the grid when their own generation is insufficient. In this case the only common element between producers is the electrical network. Just like the Internet, the network is also the only element shared.

It is true that the electricity system has a few technical and legal problems which need to be ironed out for electricity exchange to become a reality, but we do have the resources to achieve this. Since green energy such as solar and wind power are used for individual production, this will help us better implement these systems and create a more environmentally-friendly future.

NEWS FROM THE SECTOR
96 municipalities in Alicante will save €385,000 by changing their lighting systems
The measures also entail reducing atmospheric emissions of CO2 by 541 tonnes
noticia

A total of 96 municipalities in Alicante province will save €385,000 this year and will reduce their annual CO2 emissions by 541 tonnes by changing their public lighting systems and using LED technology in their buildings, according to sources from the provincial council of Alicante.

The provincial institution will spend €1.9 million this year on implementing the Provincial Energy Savings Plan in these 96 municipalities. This amount, along with the €1 million invested last year, will use 64% of the €4.5 million budgeted to reduce energy consumption in the province. The average period of return on the investment is five years.
noticia
The savings could be higher as only 96 of the 123 local councils in Alicante who are party to the agreement have submitted their action plans to the Provincial Energy Agency. The local regions of L'Alcoià-El Comtat and Marina Alta, with 19 and 17 local councils respectively, have drawn up the most energy savings programmes.

Last year, the estimated energy savings were 664.5 megawatt-hours per year, and the financial savings reached €115,000 annually for the group of local councils which belong to the plan. The actions planned by local councils as part of the action plans for this year include improvements to street lighting and lighting in municipal buildings.

For street lighting, the changes largely consist of replacing sodium- and mercury-vapour lights with halide or LED lamps. This is what has been proposed by the councils of Agres,

Alcocer de Planes, Alcoleja, Almudaina, Banyeres, Benasau, Benimassot, Cocentaina, Facheca, Famorca, Gaianes and Onil, all in the local region of L'Alcoià-El Comtat.

In the Marina Alta region, Benimeli, Benissa, Benitachell, El Ràfol de Almúnia and Murla have taken this step. Bolulla and Sella have done so in Marina Baixa.

In Vega Baja, the councils of Albatera, Formentera del Segura, Granja de Rocamora, Redován, Los Montesinos and Callosa de Segura have joined in.

In Alto Vinalopó, Sax has taken part; and in Medio Vinalopó, the councils of Algueña, Hondón de las Nieves and Pinoso; while in Baix Vinalopó they are still waiting for the plans submitted to be reviewed. In L'Alacantí, La Torre de les Maçanes will also change its sodium-vapour lamps to LED for street lighting.

As for improvements to municipal buildings, halide lamps will be changed to LEDs in the town hall buildings of Agres, Almudaina, Muro de Alcoy, Benifallim and Cocentaina, and in the state schools of Agres, Almudaina and Muro in the region of L'Alcoià-El Comtat.

noticia

In Marina Alta, this replacement will be carried out in La Vall d'Alcalá and Ondara. In this latter municipality, the replacement will also be carried out in the music school, the auditorium and the senior-citizen centre, among other buildings.

In Vega Baja, conventional lighting has been replaced by LED lamps in the town hall, the local police headquarters and Guardamar library. In Medio Vinalopó, at the Monóvar municipal swimming pool, and in the sports centres and football pitches of Petrer and Pinoso, solar systems will be used to obtain hot water.

CIRCUTOR NOVELTIES
CIRLAMP
Smart street lighting management system
novedades
The solution developed by CIRCUTOR based on CirLamp, enables smart street lighting management, to improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption. The possibility of remotely controlling the working of each lighting point offers numerous advantages over alternatives that propose single head-end control.

The CirLamp system provides both the flexibility of point-to-point control and ease of maintenance management, having a direct impact on electrical energy consumption and user satisfaction.
Objectives of using a street lighting management system
Reduced electrical energy consumption:
There are two types of actions for reducing consumption, firstly replacing old mercury vapour lamps with more energy efficient ones, such as leds, and secondly through more efficient management of the lighting points with the help of the CirLamp system.

Reduced maintenance costs:

Thanks to CIRCUTOR's smart street lighting control system, the time it takes to resolve any incident can be reduced because there is real time information on the status of the installation. Thanks to the information it provides, preventive maintenance work on the lighting points can be done.

Reduced pollution:
By achieving more efficient energy consumption, we can reduce CO2 emissions that cause the greenhouse effect which affect the global climate. We also reduce light pollution through a more efficient use of street lighting.
